This data on the distribution of avoidable maintenance was obtained from detailed analysis of 1,000 maintenance work orders randomly selected from a total of 15,000 work orders from major US corporations. A slightly different picture emerges if you consider the data from the aspect of the number of work orders and the amount of maintenance time expended, as shown in the charts below.
